Another example of the great original content I was talking about yesterday. Our Sam Davies is one of the best writers out there (GQ, please don't ever steal him away from us ...) and our monthly Deep Dives newsletter is an absolute must-subscribe for anyone looking for thorough, in-depth reporting on the #additivemanufacturing industry's biggest challenges, applications and more.Make sure you subscribe to our newsletter (it's free!) for more of this kind of exclusive #3Dprinting editorial >> https://lnkd.in/ekxxyMbH

The next issue of TCT Magazine is in the works but before we get carried away with #additivemanufacturing for aerospace and all the good stuff happening in the UK's AM sector (get in touch with Carol Cooper if you want to get involved with these features!), I wanted to shout about our current issue. I'm always so proud of the hard work our team puts in to ensure every issue of TCT is filled with original AM editorial and this most recent issue includes some of my favourite features of the year so far 💙Siemens Energy is on both covers with the story of its journey to serial production with AM. Thanks to Jem Drew, Tad Steinberg and Manish Kumar for your sharing your insights. In #healthcare, Oliver Johnson (who you can now find editing our sister magazine Med-Tech Innovation) spoke to Nicholas Jacobson about the opportunities for bitmap #3Dprinting in medical applications, and got more details on 3D Systems Corporation's latest multi-material dental technology.I had the pleasure of sitting down with Materialise CEO Brigitte de Vet-Veithen at #AMUG to discuss collaboration and how to broaden the adoption of AM, and I also put some questions to ARBURG, Inc. and Hashtagtwo about their #TCTAwards-nominated breast prosthesis project. Meanwhile Sam Davies spoke to AddUp and Anatomic Implants about the development of a 3D printed toe joint replacement, and brought together two biomedical engineers from Mayo Clinic and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to discuss in-house, point of care 3D printing workflows. In our business case feature, Sam spoke to ADDMAN, CIDEAS Inc., and more about how manufacturers can future proof their AM investments, and I spoke to Jonathan Rowley and about why adopting AM doesn't meaning owning it. I also chatted to Renee Begley at Collins Aerospace about doubling down on its investment in multi-laser metal AM systems from Nikon SLM Solutions. We also have a through the doors report from 3T Additive Manufacturing Ltd's UK production facility where Daniel Johns and team shared with Sam why AM's place in the value chain isn't necessarily where you think it is.We've also got expert columns from Mark Chester at PrintCity MMU about why now might be the right time to consider adopting AM, and from America Makes about how AM can enable SMEs can leverage new opportunities. Finally, for our readers in North America, we're also going back to the future with an in-depth discussion with RAPID + TCT leaders on the story of North America's largest AM and industrial 3D printing event, and what's next. Thank you to our wonderful speakers for a great #AdditiveManufacturing session on stage at #MACH2024 yesterday. We had a diverse range of AM insights with the end user perspective coming from Bradley Hughes at GKN Aerospace, the supply chain perspective from Jennifer Johns at University of Bristol, and education & skills from Mark Chester at PrintCity MMU. It's always good to step outside of the 'additive bubble' from time to time to see AM technologies and their unique value in a wider manufacturing context, and I hope that attendees left this year's event with a grounded understanding of where AM fits in. Thank you to Josh Dugdale and the team at Additive Manufacturing UK for inviting The TCT Group to host! (And to our conference pro Lu Tikrity for bringing this together!) Next stop: #TCT3Sixty 🥳

Back home after spending a week in Chicago with the #additivemanufacturing community. This was my 6th time as an #AMUG attendee and, as always, it remains a great place to catch up with industry friends, meet new ones and have unique conversations over good food and drink (that Nutella ice cream, anyone?)Our TCT Magazine team was able to spend quality time with industry leaders and speakers, which you can read all about in the next issue of TCT Magazine and on our website in the next couple of weeks (Subscribe for free: https://lnkd.in/eEDwVq5U).In the meantime, some conference highlights from Oliver Johnson and I:Oli shares takeaways from Jason Lopes (AMUG🦕)' keynote which told the story of Gentle Giant Studios' first use of #3Dscanning on the set of Fight Club to #3Dprinting Skrull masks for Marvel’s Secret Invasion (Whenever I tell my friends about working in AM, THIS is what I'll point to!): https://lnkd.in/dJDzuDFTAnd I recap an insightful Innovator's Showcase fireside chat between Todd Grimm and Greg Morris which discussed the metal AM pioneer's life and career, including how the famous GE LEAP fuel nozzle came to life. Easily my highlight of the week: https://lnkd.in/eDwDjWWjWe've also got a special #AMUG2024 Additive Insight episode dropping on Monday in which I get Oli's thoughts as an AMUG first-timer. If you haven't already listened, we also recently featured keynote speaker Olaf Diegel (who also had a very cool entry for this year's Technical Comp!) and AMUG President Shannon VanDeren (AMUG 🦕) whose enthusiasm for this community shines even brighter in person: https://lnkd.in/dGwtHBtvThanks to everyone who stopped to chat to Oli, Nicky Martin and I, and took a copy of the mag. Looking forward to catching up with you all at #TCT3Sixty and #RAPIDTCT this summer. I always forget to take photos so here's one of our TCT team over on the SME booth taken by our RAPID + TCT friends (sorry, Duncan Wood!).

Getting my things ready for flying out to Chicago for #AMUG2024. Looking forward to catching up with everyone and having our Oliver Johnson and Nicky Martin with us for the first time - be sure to say hello! If you're looking for some pre-AMUG listening for your long flight/drive, I recommend catching up on a couple of recent episodes of our Additive Insight podcast.🎙 On episode # 164, I had a great chat with AMUG President Shannon VanDeren (AMUG 🦕) who shared how her enthusiasm for AM began at Materialise in 2010, top tips for getting the most out of this year’s event (“Talk to everybody!”), and her optimism for the future of #3Dprinting. >> https://lnkd.in/eKw778PP🎙 On episode # 169, I got a sneak preview of one of this year's keynotes in a conversation with Olaf Diegel, Professor of Additive Manufacturing at the University of Auckland. Diegel discussed the importance of DfAM (and why we’re not using it nearly enough), how his work at the University’s Creative Design and Additive Manufacturing Lab combines engineering and creative thinking, and of course, those famous 3D printed guitars.>> https://lnkd.in/eaERt6nYSee you in Chicago! AMUG (Additive Manufacturing Users Group)(This is a photo of one of my favourite presentations from last year, which I think perfectly captures the whole point of AMUG - people coming together to learn from each other and collaborate to further the use of AM technologies. You can read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/eGmaAJpA)
